Sri Lanka is considered a paradise for water sports and surfing can be done throughout the year. Surrounded by the ocean and with numerous lakes and waterways flowing across the island, perfect weather, good wind and consistent waves year round has made it an ideal place for water sport.
Tourists enjoy jungle and river safaris, scuba diving, snorkeling, water skiing, surfing, kite surfing, wakeboarding, banana rides, tube rides, jet ski rides, river fishing, white water rafting, canoeing or windsurfing here at Sri Lanka.

Distribution of Water Sports Centers by District
You can find waters sports centers in a number of districts in Sri Lanka. However, the majority of these are located around the Kalpitiya area of the Puttalam district.
Kithulgala, in the Kegalle district, is the best and safe for whitewater rafting. Rafting activities are done in the 8-10km section of the Kelani river. If you are visiting Kithulgala, you can also do rainforest walks, mountain biking, bird watching, river expeditions, waterfall abseiling etc… in addition to rafting.
