Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage is located in Pinnawala area of Kegalle District, Sabaragamuwa Province. The Elephant Orphanage was established in 1975 by the Department of Wildlife Conservation for feeding and providing care for orphaned/wounded baby elephants found in jungles.
